Oki-Ni always come through with the exclusives and limited editions over here in the UK. I remember getting a custom pair of Adidas trainers from a local Birmingham store around 5 years ago and just falling in love with the company. Limited Editions are kind of the whole grail of fashion – you just KNOW no-one else you know will have the same piece that you have, and you are bound to stand out. You cannot really say this when you rock your latest All Saints/Topman shirt on your latest night out!
The guys at Oki-Ni have managed to secure a truly limited edition pair of Levi’s Engineered Jeans which are based on the first standard fit Levi’s from 1999. They have been literally hand spray finished with multicoloured paint (you heard right), finished with an 18 carat gold button and only 99 pairs have even been produced. Engineered Levi’s are the twisted versions that were massively popular at launch in 1999 and some of you might even remember the adverts for them! They inspired the twisted fits that major high street labels now produce – like your All Saints and Topman – which are supposed to fit the contours of your legs more naturally and give a better shape.
Being a real fashion history lover and general denim connoisseur (nice), I love Levi’s and always have. They are the originals in my eye when it comes to denim and they have years of history which is dedicated to producing high quality jeans. Many of the high street brands and major premium designers took inspiration from their cuts, styles and washes and you can still see this today in the newest collections everyone releases.
I am not particularly sure on how I stand on these paint sprayed jeans, so I do not think these jeans are definitely for me, but the other 10th Anniversary packs are also exclusives and they have some amazing grey washes, destroyed comfort fits and even extra large over sized versions. In the main post you can see multiple photos of the limited edition hand sprayed jeans and the other Anniversary packs – so what do you think?
Here’s the information straight from Oki-Ni:
“In celebration of the 10th birthday of Levi’s Engineered Jeans, a very limited 99 pairs of hand painted anniversary jeans have been produced, based on the original ‘First Standard’ fit from 1999.
Each pair have a completely unique hand sprayed finish in a bright colour palette. The fabric’s a recreation of the denim used in 1999, an innovative mix of cotton and hemp in an intense green-caste indigo shade. It’s woven on a narrow loom with solid green selvage and finished with 18 carat gold button and rivets caste from original moulds.
These limited edition jeans are presented in an exclusive commemorative box with a matching paint blast finish.”
As well as getting hold of the limited edition pair above, Oki-Ni have managed to secure multiple varieties of the anniversary packs which all come in a commemorative box and feature popular fits brought bang up to date from 1999. All retail around the £199 mark and are a great investment piece for your wardrobe if you are a denim collector or just LOVE jeans and fashion history like myself!
