There is a lot going on this week in men’s fashion. Some big retailers and brands are having mid season sales already so there are some bargains to be had. Plus we have an outfit and new collection launch by YMC at Mywardrobe, Topman winter colour picks, new leather jackets by All Saints, Urban Outfitter’s new man bags, and high fashion picks at Oki-ni.
So with all this in mind, this is going to be quite a long post today which I hope you will enjoy – so sit back and relax for 15 minutes whilst we round up on all the stories we couldn’t squeeze in this week.
Topman Winter Colours Selection
Topman have just done a new feature on site that showcases their winter colours collection. We have been over the point before that Autumn/Winter is not just for monochrome items, and injecting some bold statement pieces is a must to set you apart from the crowd. The 4 colours they have used are: Smog (greys), Blood, Ink and Tan.
These are all beautiful colours for the darker seasons because they are bold colours but in a deeper shade than normal. For example blood is a deep red and ink is a deep blue which when combined together I think would look amazing. I have always been a massive fan of grey – especially in jeans – and so I think this mixture is particularly impressive. Tan is a really great colour if you mix your items well. You can get some great leather tan brogues to be bang on trend, or invest in a holdall or belt. The toffee jacket below is a real statement item that you need some confidence to pull off. Do it right though and I think you would look amazing.
Take a look at 3 examples from each of their ranges below.

All Saints Leather Jackets
So what has been happening this week at All Saints? Well I have dropped around £500 recently on the new collections online because there is so much more choice than at my local store. This week has officially been the week of the leather jacket at All Saints with at least 5 new releases in a variety of cuts. I love the hooded versions of the jacket and have just sprung for one this morning. The leather jacket is ESSENTIAL for Autumn/Winter and all year round in my eyes – but you know I am biased by now! They are a collection piece though that gets better with age so you should never feel guilty picking up such a classic item. Check the new releases below:
MyWardrobe YMC Collection and Outift of the Week
The guys and girls at MyWardrobe are great friends of mine now and we are always bouncing ideas off each other. I am going to show you the outfit we came up with this week using some beautiful brown, beige and navy colour combinations. One tip I can give to all of you is that when building a versatile and classic wardrobe you should always have greys, browns, navy, black and white as the basis to it. These are colours that all coordinate beautifully no matter what the occasion. This is the key to having multiple looks on ANY budget and it will give you so much variety if you have key pieces in each.
Anyway back to the outfit, we have mixed a great tweed waistcoat with a plain white shirt (like in last week’s brogues look book) and thrown on the beautiful new twill work jacket by YMC. Match this with a blue trouser again by YMC and finish it off with an on trend brown work boot by Paul Smith. A sophisticated outfit that has it’s roots in the whole country brogue scene we used last week for our look book.
The new YMC collection that they have just received is a must see. Here is a little detail about the current collection:
“YMC compromises funky wardrobe staples which take inspiration from Jane Mansfield, Westside Story, and Patsy Cline to name just a few, YMC pays a lot of attention to high quality fabrics and bold block colours with bright knits and jumper dresses at the fore. Unaffected by seasonal trends, YMC creates intelligent clothing that’s both functional and modern.”
YMC produce some great timeless items in classic cuts. What sets them apart however is the quality of their fabrics and overall detailing of their pieces. The beautiful sheepskin jacket and waxed bombers just look and feel like quality – when you see some of their clothes up close you can just tell that they have been crafted to high standards.
High Fashion at Oki-Ni
We have had some great new releases within the world of high fashion this week. Maison Martin Margiela new season has dropped at Oki-Ni and features some great new takes on essential Autumn/Winter essentials. You will find the tan leather jacket, acid wash type slim jeans described as “Marigela standard slim fit denim jeans with an ice velvet fleece outer coating. This has been aged for a look unique to each pair.” and a great chunky new piece of knitwear that is a belted cardigan. You may remember me mentioning them last month to ridicule from a lot of readers! :( But again I love this version below as well. These are all going to be expensive but we have to try and appeal to everyone so if you cannot afford it just use it as a way to develop your own personal style and tastes:
Pendleton x Opening Ceremony have come out and released a really interesting take on the whole plaid/checked trend that is going to be massive for Autumn/Winter in the form of cardigan type sweaters and blazers. These all retail in the £200 – £250 mark so would be a great way of standing out from the crowd this season. Particularly love the blue version:
Urban Outfitters Bags
Urban Outfitters site is under maintenance as I posted this. So images might not show until later.
Urban Outfitters have just got hold of some great new bags including examples from the DRKSHDW collection that was critically acclaimed. This was a collaboration with Eastpack and Rick Owens so you know it is going to be great. Eastpack are world renowned for their bags, rucksacks and general luggage producing, where as Rick Owens is one of the top up and coming high fashion designers right now. The bags below are great examples of the new collection that you can get your hands on now. Love the first bag and I think I will definitely be getting one of the colour ways at the end of the month. I have also included a plaid bag which is right on trend for Autumn/Winter:
New Schuh Website
Schuh have completely redesigned their website in the last week and only launched it on Tues. It is a lot less cluttered and is much MUCH easier trying to find the perfect pair of shoes/trainers on there now. I would know because browsing the old site for article picks was a real chore and now it’s “simples”! They also have a new 360 degree feature on each product which allows you to see every angle of the footwear – and this is a really important feature for sneaker freaks or collectors.
They have launched a FREE DELIVERY offer to coincide with the new website lauch, so I have included below some of my favourite on trend picks for the coming season:
Boots
Brogues
Hi-Tops

Taking Style Inspiration From Others

I’ve recently sold off all of my other leather jackets after splashing out on both the All Saints Krush jacket and the All Saints Lindaman jacket.. The quailty is just so much better for just thrice the price of a bod standard leather jacket!!
What hooded leather jacket did you get Ben? I’m looking to get one from All Saints next week but can’t decided between the Zone and the Departed leather hooded jackets..
I’m swaying towards the Zone jacket, as it would be more of an unusual choice due to the half zip, which you rarely seen on leather jackets.
I would go for the Departed;)
I did go for the departed! Yeah it’s a beautiful jacket and I wanted a hooded version for a while. The Zone one I considered because I have never seen one like it, but in the end the departed is more versatile and can be layered better.
Plus I think with over the head items it’s either on or off. The same holds true for my hoodies as I always get full zip… you can leave them open to cool off or do them up when your cold.
I like the blood red look!! I actually just bought a pair of blood red skinny leg jeans yesterday. I am mad becuase I listned to the retailer and bought a black baggy bennie with it., but i am going shopping again, and I will stop by express and pick up a blood red top hat and a cardigan to go with it.
I have All my geek chic items for going out this weekend, but i am undecided on a graphic t shirt under the cardigan or something eles..
I’m coveting these: http://www.oki-ni.com/View-All-Christian-Peau/Christian-Peau-Boots/invt/cpe0014blk
