We continue with previewing the early drops of Autmn/Winter collections by all the designer greats and trying to spot trends as a result. Today we are featuring Marc Jacobs and more specficially his diffusion line – Marc by Marc Jacobs Clothing. Firstly a little background for those that don’t know: Marc Jacobs is a 46 year old American Designer who is obviously the head of Marc Jacobs and also the creative director of the prestigious Louis Vuitton brand. Louis Vuitton is the clothing choice for all the hip hop style icons like Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Jay-Z and the like.

He is always very very sharply dressed and a real style icon within his own right. Kanye West has openly said in many interviews that he idolises Marc Jacobs and believes he is the King of Fashion: “Marc Jacobs is my fashion idol because of the way he merges all worlds… For me, Jay-Z’s my big brother, but what he was to me in rap is what Marc Jacobs is to me in fashion.” A true endorsement indeed and based on the postive reception everyone has given Kanye on this site, means that his clothing line should be well received by you all.

The new collection I think is truely superb. The early pieces that have come out include super soft leather bags, printed t-shirts and beautiful cashmere pieces that make this a collection of luxurious items mixed with easy-to-wear staples. Most of the items would be perfect for the modern gentleman and really enables you to pull off the “Modern Dandy” look with great flair – a lot of the statement pieces I featured in that article are actually by Marc Jacobs.

Outfit Inspiration – Dandy

Here we go with a nice little layered Dandy look. Slim skinny black jeans keep a fashion but formal edge, the plain subltle t-shirt will look great under the contrasting grey cardigan, and then throw on the real statement pieces with a great check blazer and the beutiful soft leather messenger bag. Also included some wayfarers for some retro and timeless cool on hot days.

Outfit Inspiration – Casual

Keep it really simple with bright contrasting colours. Grey jeans are really in right now and I love this more formal looking pair. Combine that with a hot pink polo shirt to really make a statement, then throw on the sports jacket and the sunnies to round off that relaxed formal look. Obviously you could go with the hold all as well with this outfit to really play on that sports luxe vibe.
