We have featured a few collections of Martin Margiela on this site before. Normally we have showcased their footwear, because they make exceptional pieces for the higher fashion market which are both creative and eye catching. Some of his designs can be a bit “out there” but he also makes some amazing classic fashion items which would definitely not look out of place on any male who is into his fashion and looking for something that adds a bit of flair to his outfit.
His jewellery is REALLY popular on our site. Looking through our site stats I can see a lot of people search and browse through the Martin Margiela Jewellery we showcase. He has just dropped his new collection yesterday, and it is as good as ever. There are a lot of rings, bracelets and cuffs in this collection, which come in a variety of materials. I particularly like the lighter coloured cuffs, which are perfect if you want to rock that festival or rocker look this summer.
The rings also come in unusual designs; like the nail ring, chain ring and the scratched effect ring. It’s just like nothing else we have seen on the market from other designers, who play it safe with the simple titanium/silver rings. All these again will add to the rocker image, and combine very well with the cuffs.
The jewellery does not even cost that much for any item in the collection. Starting around £69 and topping out around £159 it is less than you would pay for a designer brand of the same quality. So take a look at what we would recommend from the new collection below and let me know what you think in the comments.
Martin Margiela was born in Belgium in 1957, graduating from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1980. He founded Maison Martin Margiela in 1988 showing his first women’s ready to wear collection for spring / summer 1989.
His work is closely associated with the deconstructionist fashion movement of the 1980s. Margiela’s work is characterised by a poetic appreciation of imperfection, personality and eccentricity. His collections have been presented on tube platforms and street corners. He says ‘My main inspiration has always has been the extremities and changes of daily life.’
He is also a great fashion clothes designer. We will feature some more of this collection over the next couple of weeks, but check out some of the great summer T-shirts, Knitwear and jackets he has done below.
