With the summer weather now kicking it up a notch, I thought it would be a perfect time to showcase some new sunglasses collections. Whether you are going away on holiday or just to the latest festival, you are going to need a great pair of eye wear for those long days standing around in the sunshine. You want to look good, but you also want to have the necessary protection from your eye wear as it is important to protect your eye sight.
Ray Ban are iconic sunglasses designers. People all round the world have worn them for years and they are a staple in any celebrities wardrobe. They seem to ooze cool and many people just seem to have instant respect for the brand when you see someone wearing a pair. They are the brand that other sunglasses are always judged against. They have appeared in countless Hollywood films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Top Gun and Men In Black which raised their profile amongst the general public and I think EVERYBODY should have an investment pair of RayBan’s.
The 2 classic styles they are famous for are the Aviator and Wayfarers. These styles are the most popular each and every season since I have been into my fashion, which is great news for us because buying a pair of each will set you up for years through each and every season. They will never go out of style, and will always finish off an outfit perfectly. I would start with your basic silver/black/brown colours for a classic pair which you can wear every season, and then add specific colours or styles to your collection if you have the cash. They will set you back on average around £100, but like I said, the classic styles will never go out of fashion and will look great on you each and every year. Plus these are built to last and NO-ONE in my eyes does it better.
Take a look at the latest collection pieces below. I have tried to feature the top wayfarers and aviator styles in some of my favourite classic and more on trend designs.
Ray Ban Sunglasses History
The original aviator brand, Ray-Ban was founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb on commission from the United States Air Force. Lieutenant John MacCready had returned from a balloon flying adventure and complained that the sun had done permanent damage to his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a type of sunglasses that would not only provide superb protection, but also look elegant.
Produced for pilots, the aviator stands true to its name and was sold exclusively to the military for the first year before becoming available to the general public. Behind the iconic Wayfarer which has been reported as being the best selling style in history, Ray-Ban is the most formidable of sunglasses brands.

Top Gun – Need I say more?
Popular with all the young Hollywood celebrities, the Wayfarers are a classic style which gives you that retro look. It is the most popular selling style in HISTORY. They come in around £60-£70 and are normally unisex in a variety of funky colourways. I personally love the black and tortoise shell classic colours.
