Another week and I get to show you all exactly what I have been looking at recently and eyeing up for my wardrobe. Most of the items below will be from the newest collection launches or right on trend for this autumn/winter. Expect to see some great checked shirts, knitwear, and a lot of worker wear because I really love that whole look for this coming season. I also really have a thing for leather jackets, so let me indulge if you would – they are such a classic item which only gets better the more you wear them. They also add an “edge” to any fashion look, and are amazingly versatile for layering. As an added benefit, they also keep you nice and warm now the weather is getting even worse (if that was possible)!
I will pick 4 shops this week, hopefully giving a wide and varied range from high street to high fashion. There should be something for everyone’s tastes and I want to show that it doesn’t matter where you look or how much you spend, there are classic fashion items to be had from most stores… you just have to look properly and identify classic items.
So let’s get this show on the road…
They have an amazing new range of thick worker shirts which are perfect for this season. You can see some of the best checked versions in yesterday’s post but today I have thrown in a beautiful plain dark blue version which would look great this coming season. Also had to showcase the destroyed check shirt because that is a great spin on the traditional variety and we want to stand out from the crowd within the trend. Military boots are a must and would look perfect with pretty much any of the items that are along side them here – especially the leather jacket. Dark colours are great for autumn/winter, so black graphic tees, dark leather jackets and shades of blues to add some colour would be great additions to your wardrobe.
MyWardrobe continue to release some of the best stuff I have seen this season already. Each week it’s a pleasure to look through their new collections (although not for my bank balance). This week we have a real mix: the rust bomber jacket I really like because it is lightweight and can be worn now and right through to the new season, plus I just love the colour. Black slim jeans will be big this year, and this washed pair by APC look amazing quality and perfect for rocking with the bold check shirts on top (thinking a bold red colour right now).
The checked shirt was featured yesterday, but again it’s a slightly new twist with large checks and again will set you apart from the crowd. Remember yesterday I said combine the check shirt trend with the chunky knitwear trend? Voila… that thick cable knit cardigan (bottom right) is perfect because it can be left unbuttoned or half buttoned for layering.
There are a lot of visitors to this site who love Topman and I can see why… they are right on trend all the time and always release items before their competitors. Plus the quality and styles for the price are great. Here we have two twists on the checked shirt – a polo version and short sleeves. Both will work extremely well within your A/W wardrobe, so definitely worth a look (there are loads of styles to choose from if you click through).
Also LOVE that burgundy tie cardigan as it adds a bit of flair to your knitwear instead of the traditional cardigan. Again I love the colour and it’s great to see beautiful shades of bold reds, Burgundy’s and rust filtering through this year (I see an article coming! :) ). We finish off the collection with the typical geek items: braces and bow tie – I was going to include the glasses but it seems we all went and grabbed a pair because they are sold out! I love Onisuka Tiger trainers so the boots are a big yes from me.
Doing some really nice stuff at the moment and some really outlandish high fashion stuff as well (click through to take a look). I LOVE the black watch below and think I will be pre-ordering this as a very early Christmas to myself. The new collection from Humor is great and the 2 pieces of knitwear below would be great for the coming season – the model shots don’t do them too much justice but if you look at the top main image for this post you will see how to rock it with the geek trend in full swing. Love the colouring and real stand out quality of the tartan checked shirt, plus New Balance have released a new collection which you can see by clicking through on the image – some great old school stylings and quality.
