Winners Announced!
So Today we have the winners of our Topman AAA competition to announce. We had some amazing submissions and Ashley has picked his 3 favourite outfits put together by our readers. The standard was REALLY high, so well done to everyone who got involved. We are going to have some amazing prizes to give away over the coming months so keep your eyes peeled for more ways to win with Fashionbeans.com!
JAHALE JUREIDINI-MCLOED
Jahale has create a great military inspired outfit which would look perfect for this Autumn/Winter. Military is always around in some form or another each year so here is a way to get on trend using new Topman releases. What I particularly love is the attention to detail with the use of multiple accessories in order to really ram home the look. Also, the use of earth tones and true military colours gives the outfit some individualism whilst being right on trend for the whole heritage theme we are also seeing this season.
“Hopefully this is good enough, I am going for a neutral Military styled look :)”
MATTHEW ROBINSON
Matthew has created a great Autumn/Winter outfit using on trend items such as chinos, marbled knitwear (being featured soon on Fashionbeans), and a Fair Isle tie. What this does is adds a modern spin to the whole outfit, whilst also keeping you differentiated from the rest of the males in your city. Also love the use of loafers which again are still not a mainstream item, even though we have pushed them pretty hard this year on Fashionbeans.
SAMUEL BASTABLE
Samuel Bastable produced this look that hit the whole Town in Country trend perfectly (it is one of my favourite trend looks for the season). Using camel tones really allows you to stand out from the crowd, and this outfit will definitely garner attention whilst not being in your face. A great way of showing that you do not have to stick to the monochrome colour palette for Autumn/Winter this year.
I’ve gone for a very rugged, outdoor look involving thick, chunky textures mixed with warm linings. For the colour scheme I’ve used earth tones by pairing a moss green parka, with a black knit, a camel shirt and brown boots. I hope you like it.

Oh this is lovely! Are people residing in America will be able to participate in this competition? Because I really want to participate!
Yes of course you are eligible to enter. That goes for anyone else wondering too. :)
Everyone loves a freebie.
Nice work guys. Can anyone tell me what/where the coat is from in the main image of this article? I’ve been looking for one just like it!
IH. That’s from the TOPMAN AAA collection. Here’s the link to the pictures but don’t think the clothes have been released yet. http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogNavigationSearchResultCmd?storeId=12555&&parent_categoryId=207368&categoryId=221035&interstitial=true&top=Y&langId=-1&catalogId=33056&beginIndex=1&pageSize=20&sort_field=Relevance
I am very much happy and sad at the same time that those three lucky readers won the gift set and sad that mine was a part of it.
It is unfortunate that the winners are most likely the trendiest of the submissions. Is this what this competition is based on? Who is the most trendy? I will keep this in mind when there is a new competition in the future.
Honestly, I think the first look was just trying too hard. You already have the military jacket, and then a military colored scarf and an actual medal? I am appalled. It would never transcend beyond once military trend is out of fashion.
I know my submission was more reserved and classic than the submissions you selected, but there are alot of looks out there that doesn’t necessarily has to be the most trendy.
So an explaination would be nice. It would also be more fair if you selected other looks that isn’t just military/fair isle.
Thanks again and I appologize for any of the inconvienices I caused.
To Narong
The whole point in the competition was to create a look that emits the On going trends THIS season, so it doesnt matter if it wouldnt transcend to next season.
I apologise if my outfit had too much going on for you, when to be honest it didnt, i mean really its a little medalion that goes on the jacket if you had seen that in a shop you would think its a part of the jacket ?
I stuck to my trend and i’m proud of it, after all i’m 15 i have a lot more learning to do.
To me its sounds as if you are a sore loser, who cant come to terms with the fact that the look he put together wasnt right for this competition or just plain ugly.
I mean come on appalled ?
A bit strong just for an outfit, if you dont like it dont look at it or wear, Kinda simple really…
Thanks again Ashley for thinking i was good enough and Congrats to the other 2 winners :)
@Narong – Like Jahale has just mentioned, the brief of the competition was to create an outfit that portrayed this seasons trends. Whilst your look was a very wearable outfit that may have been very much inspired by your personal taste, I received hundreds of other looks that covered a similar area. How could I have justifiably picked only 3 winners out of those? I’d have ended up with 50 winners. :S So instead I decided to go with the looks that highlighted the trends in a way that I could have pictured them as an editorial look featuring on the likes of the Topman website. When creating outfits/trends from an editorial stand-point, you can never ‘try too hard’, Jahale demonstrated a very clear understanding of a trend and exactly how to visually communicate it.
I hope this briefly clears up the reasons behind my choices and maybe even provides you with a few tips for future competitions.
Ashley
@ Jahale
It is great that you won and I apologize for any inconviences that may come from my comments. Since you’re only 15, it make more sense on how you would bring your pieces together. You would probably wear that exact outfit down the streets huh?
Fashion is subjective. One outfit can look beautiful, while the same one can look hideous. It is just personal tastes and really don’t want to keep this argument going. It would never end.
All I can say is: Congratulations to you.
@ Ashley
I would really like to thank you for replying to me and taking your time to do so. And also I appreciate you handled the situation in a very respectful manner. Your explaination definitely satisfied my question and come to understand that it must be hard for you to pick the winners. Thank you again and I am still a loyal reader of FashionBeans.
