Slim Line
Hi guys, just a quick one for you here, but it’s definitely a style for anyone out there trying to look good but not to make a statement or go with a stereotype, one for those Sunday mornings when you just want to sling something on and still look amazing.
One of the best ways of looking smart without putting in too much effort is by keeping an outfit simple. Fashion is obviously all about putting effort into the way that we look, but that doesn’t mean that looking really good in something (like jeans and a tee for example), hasn’t taken a lot of thought when being put together. If simplicity isn’t a usual ingredient in your normal style, then there are a few things you can do to make yourself stand out.
This style is all about making the best of your body shape, by wearing clothes that flatter you. This isn’t just to do with the colour or design on the piece of clothing, but to do with the specific fit of the clothes and the fabric that they are made of. Obviously, it’s not worth breaking the bank for a t-shirt, but if you spend a bit more time searching for your clothes, you will find things that do look great – on YOU – for a real bargain.
Colour is important for a simple look; keep them subtle and serene. Deep, dark colours work well as well as black/navy and white combination, which looks great whilst adding a somewhat naval tone to your outfit. The image above on the right is a must have look for the coming summer, and it is so easy to pull off; a crisp shirt and simple navy shorts – that’s it. Accessories should be equally low key, perhaps a pair of aviators or a thin scarf, whilst footwear should be basic in terms of colour, but military boots, which are another must have could work well here.
If as I mentioned earlier, you are someone who doesn’t like simple, there are certain things you can do and wear which look a bit different. Particularly oversized/baggy cut t-shirts that drape your frame and sit well can be a great approach to this look and certainly stand out, along with drop crotch and harem pants (of which the latter is an up and coming trend).
As the weather gets warmer why not try a vest top as well, and of course, start looking out for those shorts so that you are ready for the summer. Coats, macs and other layers don’t work well with this simple look, but if it is too cold (which let’s admit, it almost certainly is), try a slouchy woollen jumper, perhaps with a simple pattern design, so that you can venture outside.
Another thing that looks great with this look is a feature hairstyle; an interesting haircut can really lift any style, but particularly this simple one as it will make up a bigger proportion of the look. I’ve put some picks from Topman below of a few pieces I think would work well here, just to give an image of the look, but this is nowhere near an exhaustive list as this style is really easy to put together, with pieces available in almost any store you can think of. Go with what projects your personal style and personality best, and DON’T over think it.

Nice, quick and simple article Jack.
For me, this is something that has taken time and effort to find the right outfits, items, cuts and brands to wear to make the most of myself and it’s something that I’ve developed over the years by adding ‘this seasons must have’ item to create a whole new outfit.
The items above should definatly be the staple of every mans closet and should be the basis of any outfit.
It’s always best to invest in key peices that you’ll wear and wash every day as they’ll last longer in the long run.
Then simply add some low crotch trousers/jeans (think All Saits & Vivienne Westwood), quirky cut tees/tops (Unconditional & Aqua Couture) and some unique or custom made jewellery (Sir by Mawi) to stand out of the crowd!
Good article, alot of the best looks are simple basics with a twist.
Oh and RIP Alexander McQueen, maybe a tribute article for him in the works?
Hey suprisingly i’ve already been cashing on this trend for quite sometime. My person favorite is the one pic in the top right corner below the title.
