James Hillman AW11
Award-winning designer, James Hillman, is placing crude oil as the inspiration behind his AW11 collection. The St. Martin’s graduate, who trained under the guise of Ted Baker, recently announced the all-black aesthetic, which illustrates the different stages in the oil processes, using an eclectic mix of materials; heavyweight woollen cashmere, reindeer leather, ripsten and lightweight wax cottons.
Pieces from the collection play with sheen and texture, fusing expertly crafted suits with high collar shirts and lambs wool
jackets with an overall sophisticated vision.
In 2009, the London-based designer joined an exclusive archive of designers, occupied by originals from Yves Saint Lauren, Jean Paul Gaultier and Donna Karen, when he picked up the Levi’s Mittelmoda award for sustainable clothing.
James Hillman’s AW11 collection, funded by Fashion Mode, is available to purchase online at www.fashionmode.co.uk
