Topman give us a peak into its spring/summer 2012 collection with the release of their latest lookbook.
With a variety of staples that are perfect for the approaching warmer months, the lookbook focuses on key pieces with heavy detailing and tribal prints. Feeding through the popular animal theme from AW11, Topman provides us with a handful of silk shirts in clashing patterns, which, when teamed with woolen items, supplies the ideal contrast.
Compiled of a selection of bohemian inspired tailoring, rich luxurious palettes and a fresh new twist on the man bag, the SS12 Topman collection brings an Eastern influence to a traditional UK menswear retailer.
The stylish double breasted outerwear piece once again makes an appearance, yet the collection is dominated by ‘eccentric elegance’ as opposed to the ‘gentleman glam’ that we’ve witnessed before. Coloured loafers, suede shorts and faded denim add an element of youthfulness to the line, while kick-flared pants and varsity jackets offer something for the maturer males.
The must have SS12 menswear accessory is the Maroc leather shopper, with its smaller, hand-held clutch design available in a variety of colours and prints.
With the upcoming season being all about experimenting with textures and bold design, Topman design director, Gordon Richardson explains: “The golden style rules are not trying too hard, not being beholden to a particular fashion and learning your own style.”
