To coincide with the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games, adidas Originals have teamed up with New York retailer Opening Ceremony to produce a capsule collection for the autumn/winter 2012 season.
Many of you may be wondering where this collaboration stems from? And rightly so. However, if you are a regular reader, you will remember not too long ago when we announced that Opening Ceremony were set to open their first European store in London’s Covent Garden ahead of the Olympic Games in order to commemorate the occasion. With that said, and bearing in mind the fact that adidas are the official sponsors of the England Olympic team, the partnership becomes mutually beneficial.
The unique collection reinterprets iconic silhouettes of the sports and lifestyle brand, with Opening Ceremony giving each piece a signature quirky spin.
With an array of different colours and patterns being utilised, both brands are most definitely taking liberties with this season’s key prints and patterns trend.
While the majority of the collection may be too playful and loud for many – especially when paired together – throughout the range there are stand out pieces, such as the paisley print, red, white and blue panel t-shirt, which once segregated and paired with more muted and subtle apparel will bring your look to life. And we mean that in a good way!
The collection consists of 70 apparel pieces and 20 footwear styles. It will be available for both men and women in July and August 2012 at select fashion retailers, as well as in adidas originals and Opening ceremony stores.
