Adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2012
With the Olympics taking place this year, it seems that sportswear has influenced many of this season’s offerings. Judging by Adidas SLVR’s autumn/winter 2012 collection, this influence is set to continue throughout the rest of the year.
Within a striking lookbook shot by Willy Vanderperre, creative director Dirk Schonberger displays an innovative collection inspired by the silent film Metropolis. Models Carlos Peters and Yannick Mantele provide the distinctive features and edgy glance needed for such a shoot, and the chosen palette of Olive, Mustard and Navy strengthens the futuristic nature of the range.
However, it’s the unique blend of fabrics, cuts and relaxed fits that is the basis of the collection’s appeal – providing a range of versatile pieces that carry a surprisingly smooth aesthetic.
A stand out piece has to be the Green Tailored Trench Coat. With a sharp cut and functional finish, it is a must have for those blustery days. The earthy hue also provides a welcome level of versatility and seasonal style.
By mixing functional design and fabric with traditional tailoring, ADIDAS SLVR has reinvented sportswear influenced fashion and given it a contemporary and stylish edge. Pairing jackets with joggers and trench coats with quilted fabrics certainly provides an interesting look. Yet judging by other releases for AW12, it is one that we will be seeing a whole lot more of.
