With the recent bout of sun leaving a golden glow over the otherwise dreary landscape known as Britain, the board shorts and straw trilbies in the back of your wardrobes must be itching to come out. However, the previews of the autumn/winter 2012 collections at recent Fashion Week’s have almost got me willing the frosty weather to come back and give us all an excuse to buy a new season tartan overcoat. Cue Agi & Sam’s AW12 collection.
The design duo from Yorkshire (Agi) and Stratford-upon-Avon (Sam) are known for their brightly coloured, printed pieces – a firm belief that “fashion should never be taken too seriously” forms the basis for their signature designs. Using a balance of ‘humour’ and ingenuity, the brand churns out fun and outlandish collections for a man with a maverick streak (their ideal customer must be Ace Ventura!) Case in point? Blood orange tartan, chickens and mallard ducks forming the prints and patterns for suits, button down shirts and jackets.
A clash of sharp tailoring with over-sized pea coats and windbreakers (plus those charming cream beanies) gave the new collection a quirky, sports luxe vibe. A trend that is set to be big this year. Navy, the colour of the season, made an appearance on Belgian model Benoi Loos in the form of a slick suit and polo-neck combination – the perfect inspiration for an outfit that makes an impression without being too garish.
Looking to recharge your wardrobe? Make colour your muse. Style a duck-printed pea coat with skinny jeans and brogues or channel sporty cool in tartan joggers and chunky high-tops.
