London menswear design talent has never been so strong. For those who have never heard of Agi & Sam, they are a design duo that have blasted onto the menswear scene and now show at London Fashion Week through the Fashion East sponsorship scheme. They have also kindly provided fans with a guide on how to wear their spring/summer 2013 collection, which is available on their Facebook page.
The lookbook features their critically acclaimed collection, which brought a sense of humour to the proceedings at the last London Collections: Men, with retro styling and a tongue-in-cheek attitude.
The collection itself boasts a plethora of print – something that the guys have become famous for – and encapsulates the emergence of this trend in menswear. Print was massive last season and is set to carry on way into autumn/winter and beyond to spring/summer 2013. All-over florals and digital abstracts are key here, with a fresh colour palette of tangerine and sky blue.
Trousers, blazers, shirts, shorts, outerwear and even socks get the print treatment and there is even an option for matching trousers and socks – worn with sandals in the lookbook. The scenic beach printed blazer is a standout piece, teamed perfectly with simple grey trousers and printed socks.
Overall, there is a relaxed, off-duty businessman feel to this collection – which is echoed in the styling choices. Moustaches, comb-overs and vintage sunnies provide the humour and highlight the fact that Agi & Sam don’t take themselves too seriously. But for all their comical references, they have become two of the hottest young menswear designers in the city right now.
For any ladies reading, they are now expanding into womenswear. Watch out for these two.
