Well known for their fearless ability to embrace the avant garde, the Alexander McQueen label does not disappoint with their new season collection. One of my personal highlights is the magnificent Aubergine Satin Long Jacket.
Made from 100% cotton, this fine-woven men’s satin long jacket contains a deep single vent and two buttons to close. It is available in sizes 46, 48 and 52.
The aubergine colouring is a welcome break from the tried and tired shades of black and grey, which so often dominate the winter collections, yet it retains the shape and cut of the traditional winter jacket – hopefully satisfying the couture purists. The deep plum shade also lends itself well to the typical seasonal palette, so you can feel free to accessorise it with that favourite grey cashmere scarf you bust out every winter (we’re not judging you).
The colouring provides an eye-catching change to the winter couture being offered by other houses this season, but not excessively or garishly so. Subtly brilliant, one might say.
The coat itself provides a theatrically vampiric overtone, and the McQueen website suggests complimenting it with a Tonal Charcoal Embroidered Skull Polo shirt and matching Aubergine Satin Trousers. Keep the Gothic aesthetic going by wearing black shoes.
The Aubergine Satin Long Jacket is available to order from the Alexander McQueen website now. It is priced at £1,120.
