Last month brought the news that Tom Ford would make his London debut, presenting at the second annual ‘London Collections: Men,’ which will take place between January 7th and January 9th 2013. The event is to be curated by GQ editor Dylan Jones.
This month, announcing their intention to join the line-up is luxury British fashion house Alexander McQueen. The first ‘London Collections: Men’ took place this past June, with the announcement of a second outing following soon afterwards due to its massive success.
This time round, the dates partially overlap with Italian menswear trade show Pitti Uomo, which makes this news particularly interesting, as Alexander McQueen has spent the past eight years showing in Milan. The brand will be showcasing their AW13 line at the glamorous London affair, joining over 50 other designers who have already signed on to do the same.
Sarah Burton, who worked as the Head of Womenswear before taking over the creative director post following McQueen’s untimely death in February 2010, currently heads the Alexander McQueen brand and is aided in creating the collections by menswear designer Harley Hughes. Outside of her executive position at McQueen, Burton is perhaps best known for designing the dresses of the sisters Middleton for the wedding of Will and Kate, a sartorial achievement which earned her an Order of the British Empire. Her piece designed for the now-Duchess of Cambridge has since become one of the most-copied dresses in the world.
No set date has been announced for the McQueen show, but the first provisional schedule is expected to be released sometime in October.
