Billy Boyce A/W 12 Collection
As some of you regular readers may remember, about six months ago I held an interview with Shaun Akanbi; designer and founder of Billy Boyce clothing. Almost half a year later, the London based prodigy is set to launch a new autumn/winter 2012 collection any day now.
When I first contacted Shaun, his company seemed to be very much in the primitive stages. He only had one collection – albeit a very interesting one – and I would have bet the best part of my student loan on how the next would look.
With a gold clad, sequin embedded homage to British heritage, this season’s line up incontrovertibly challenges every conception I had. It defines Shaun as a designer, and the brand as the Camden/Mayfair/punk/chic mash-up that it is.
He is a man who doesn’t do things by half. His spring/summer ready-to-wear collection offered more colour and vibrancy than a UV rave, while his new capsule autumn/winter collection introduces a range of darker colours and more fitting fabrics for the time of year.
