While many rugby fans will be looking forward to the kick off of the 6 Nations, the fashion world has already caught a glimpse of the main event – the Chronofighter Oversize Referee watch. Crafted and designed by Graham, the official timekeeper of the tournament, match officials will all be supplied with one – which are of course limited edition.
Specially designed for refereeing, the latest addition to the coveted Chronofighter series features a lightweight titanium case, along with Incablock shock absorb, which has been deemed “ruck proof”. There is also an internal 40 minute graduation to ensure half-time whistles are pin-point accurate, down to the nearest second. The 40 marker on the minute counter is extra large, in order to assist further with pro-level time keeping.
For some additional sporting flare, the six colours of the six participating teams are featured on the face. While a copy will be handed out to match officials and referees, only 250 will be made available for public purchase. They will be priced at £6,250 each, and can be bought from graham-london.com.
Makers of fine watches and time pieces since 1673, the company was founded in Fleet Street by George Graham – a renowned watchmaker of the time. His unique designs were sold to the military, economic and scientific elite which formed the fashionable world of London. During his lifetime he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society and contributed many writings to their scientific journal, Philosophical Transactions. He died in 1751, and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
His thoughts and ideas on fine time pieces continue to inspire Graham’s watch designers to the present day.
