COS Structured Wool Jumper
London-based Swedish brand and subsidiary of the H&M group, COS have, over their brief five year history, established themselves as the chic and mysterious relative of the high-street clothing fraternity.
Best known for their minimal and anonymous style, COS operates much like a high-end fashion house, with a team of twelve working eighteen months in advance in preparation of each of its collections. The similarities do not end there: the brand’s self-described ‘modern, tactile and timeless’ approach is synonymous with designers such as Jil Sander and Swedish compatriot, J. Lindeberg.
For the latest AW12 collection, COS have chosen fresh, bold and uncharacteristically bright hues rather than the more subdued palette that is more typical of their design aesthetic. The Structured Wool Jumper from the same collection is a fine example of this, presented in a choice of deep navy or acid yellow. The jumper’s fit is exactly what one might expect, with its comfortable, regular cut still forming a slim and perfectly proportioned outline.
As well as the colour options, the lightweight jumper’s subtly knitted pattern also catches the eye, giving an effect and texture similar to that found in the intricate art of basket weaving. This is framed by the clean neckline and smooth, cuffed edges that appear to magnify the depth and quality of the loose knit wool.
This is one of the things that COS do best – reinventing a wardrobe staple like the wool jumper not by use of extravagant motifs or branding but by adding understated yet tactile details.
The Structured Wool Jumper can be purchased from the Cos online store.
