For those who were around London’s Regent Street last Wednesday and wondered what all the fuss was about, the crowds of press and fans were out in force to attend the launch of David Beckham’s bodywear collection for H&M. The King of the Metrosexuals and national treasure himself also showed up for a presentation of the collection and signed customer’s purchases.
There were even statue-like effigies of Beckham in the windows of the store – gigantic silver mannequins replicating one of his poses from the lookbook shots. Speaking of the lookbook, see the images below for health-kick inspiration – some time in the gym will be needed for most of us to look like Becks in our underwear!
With H&M leading the way for collaborations, Beckham’s bodywear collection is much more minimalistic and simple in nature than 2011’s Versace line – but has been no less hyped. The collection itself comprises boxers and briefs with the David Beckham stamp of approval on the waistband, t-shirts and tank tops, pyjamas and long-johns. With temperatures plummeting recently a lot of us may need to invest in some long-johns, a controversial clothing choice but if it’s OK for David Beckham then it’s definitely OK by me.
With price points ranging from £7.99 for briefs to £19.99 for pyjamas and long-johns, the collection is reasonably priced and the quality of the products is noticeable.
There is nothing groundbreaking about the range, but with designer underwear brands being priced a lot higher, David Beckham for H&M could be the perfect choice for quality and comfort when funds are low at this time of year.
