Dockers Alpha Khaki Collection
Unless you have been living under a rock the past couple of years, you would of noticed that the chino is back in a big way within menswear. The Dockers brand used to be synonymous with producing chinos for the over 40’s ‘Sloan Ranger’ set; often worn with ill-advised socks and loafers from “Todd’s” or “Russell and Bromley”. However, this image of a New Bond Street stroller is now a thing of the past; as chinos have become popular with a more youthful crowd and Dockers have upped their game with a bunch of new contemporary styles.
Keen fact fans may know that chino’s were first worn by the British military in the mid 19th century. Even fewer fact fans will know that it was Levi’s that introduced the ‘Dockers’ brand to the world in the late 1980s – spotting a gap in the market after seeing denim’s popularity wane.
This season, Dockers launch the Alpha Khaki, the brand’s most superior fitting and comfy khakis to date. Bear Grills is the new spokesperson for the range, and if he can do ground rolls in them, we think they will suffice for our morning coffee run. Bringing his unique brand of urban survivor to the label, I reckon the Alpha Khaki is the perfect versatile option to endure the changeable weather of our supposed ‘summer’.
Although initially they only focused on the humble chino, Dockers is now a full apparel brand. This autumn/winter sees some amazing vintage prints utilised in their shirting range, and from their recent press day I heard rumors of an upcoming Liberty ‘colab’ – which can only ever be a good thing (will I ever tire of vintage liberty print?) There were also whispers of stand alone stores, but keep that to yourself.
With the popularity of chino’s looking like it will only grow stronger over the coming seasons, I predict big things for the ‘Alpha khaki’ and the Dockers brand in general.
