Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Aiming to create a truly authentic presentation, fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana used a home grown bunch of boys along with a live band to showcase their 2013 Collection in Milan this weekend. Ultimately providing a stand out display of Italian style, the catwalk was brought to life by the duo’s passion and flair for design.
Never ones to shy away from colour, the designs featured a heavy use of warm summery hues – the core palette being orange, yellow and peachy red. As well as fine, intricate prints, stripes were present throughout too, often taking a bold form on long sleeved tops and silky shirts.
A notable aspect that hints toward what is set to be a major trend next summer is the use of sandals as chosen footwear. Whilst blending seamlessly with the collection’s ‘rustic’ feel, it also proved that this often questionable piece of footwear can be incorporated successfully into a polished style.
A certain item that stands alone as an exemplary piece is the soldier print blazer. With its striking design and creative use of colour, this is not for the faint hearted fashion newcomer!
Tailored, rolled up trousers, thick leather belts and silk shirts conveyed the collections strong Italian roots. When displayed in such rich colour and luxurious print it’s easy to see why Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana remain at the top of their game.
