Dr Martens have recently released their new spring/summer 2012 campaign images. The shots feature the iconic Agyness Deyn and man of the moment Ash Symest. The campaign, titled ‘First and Forever’, was inspired by first-loves – and the models definitely convey that ‘us against the world’ attitude a lot of us felt when we were in love for the very first time.
The idea behind ‘First and Forever’ was to highlight the love people have for their first pair of Dr Martens. This is an important concept to the brand, who now more than ever are looking to the future but still want to hold on to their legacy and remind people why they fell for a pair of ‘Docs’ in the first place.
By keeping the iconic features of their shoes, such as airwair soles and eyelets on boots, but introducing new materials and colours, the spring/summer collection is the perfect mix of old and new. For example, contemporary brogue styles feature heavily in the new range as well as modern twists on the classic eyelet boots – this time in cream suede with contrasting soles.
Much of the collection is unisex, allowing for wearers to be totally free to make choices based on their personal style. Freedom of expression through clothing is a thing very close to the heart of the brand and this collection builds on this idea without detracting from it. No longer reserved for the British sub-culture, there is now a Dr Marten shoe for everyone.
