Folk Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
London based label Folk release their spring/summer 2013 lookbook, featuring a selection of easy to wear summer garments with a playful hint of detail.
Folk was established in 2001 and pride themselves on producing and developing their own fabrics. The menswear brand hit the market running and launched their sister brand “Shofolk” in 2004 – specialising in women and men’s footwear that is handcrafted in Portugal.
The SS13 Folk collection is not trend-led, and instead focuses on a subtle and simplistic approach with a splash of innovative detailing. Founder of Folk, Cathal McAteer, prides himself on developing everyday garments that complement effortless style, and this collection is no exception. Containing a variety of lightweight outerwear, button down shirts and the classic tees with quirky pocket details, every piece would fit seamlessly into a contemporary capsule wardrobe.
It is evident that there is a focus on giving traditional styles a modern twist, typically through vibrant coloring. Folk have developed a reputation as a brand that produces classic garments but alters them to suit their own attitude, and one piece from this collection that really stands out is their take on the conventional mac. By incorporating their trademark circular patterning, prevalent in many previous collections, it has brought a traditional silhouette bang up to date.
Overall, it is another strong collection from folk, with a range of must haves for 2013.
