Established in Northamptonshire, the central hub of the English shoe-making profession, Grenson has been clothing the well-heeled gentlemen of Britain since 1866.
Founded by a man who wanted to make shoes with a difference, William Green was born in 1835 and lost his father at tender age. Taught by his mother the craft that would shape his professional life, young William spent his formative years assisting with her cottage-industry boot-making business – it can be easily said that Green had the shoe trade in his blood.
Setting out to expand his own enterprise in 1866, William established William Grenson & Sons, hiring skilled craftsmen to manufacture the orders placed by his ever-expanding list of clients.
Soon earning a reputation for manufacturing durable shoes and boots of unsurpassed quality, Green’s business went from strength to strength, with the company building its own factory in 1874 and moving to larger premises in 1895 to cope with increasing demand.
Championing the Goodyear Welted technique, the hallmark of quality shoe construction, Grenson remains true to its long-established production techniques, using the finest natural leathers to craft their sturdy creations, in the same factory they built back in 1895.
In consideration of the changeable British elements and the uncertainty of the ground underfoot, Grenson’s Lewis V Boots are the ideal answer to your spring footwear dilemmas. Sporting a solid construction, the boots are composed from high-quality suede in a versatile wear-with-anything hue, and are mounted on an ultra-contemporary white vibram sole, whilst the brogue detailing adds a nuance of traditional quirky-cool.
A distinctive blend of heritage, craftsmanship and style, to own a pair of Grenson’s is to know a good shoe.
Available online at End Clothing and at Grenson stores and retailers nationwide.
