Best known for his bold prints and patterned womenswear collections, Scottish fashion designer, Jonathan Saunders, has transferred this trait over to his menswear collection for spring/summer 2012.
Utilising the traditional printing techniques that the designer has built his reputation on, Saunder’s has produced a wide variety of patterned garments, which includes t-shirts, shirting and knitwear. Sitting alongside the range of geometric printed garments, the collection also incorporates classic menswear items such as suiting, trousers and trench coats in both muted and striking bold colour blocking shades.
Something that is instantly noticeable from the lookbook below is the continued use of a bright cobalt blue hue – an underlying theme running throughout, it is incorporated on everything from trousers and shirting, to blazers and outerwear.
One of our favourite pieces from the range has to be the classic beige toned mac. As a regular FashionBeans reader, you should be well aware of our love affair with macs and trench coats; their sophisticated yet classically stylish aesthetic provides versatility and will transcend from season to season. What sets this particular mac apart from others on the market is its attention to detail. Splashes of cobalt blue incorporated under the collar and pocket flaps really help bring this outerwear piece to life, and allow you to make a surprise statement by popping the collar. Not only that, the choice of hue also happens to be perfectly in keeping with this seasons key colour trend: Blue.
