Coming from the new Junya Watanbe Comme des Garcons MAN spring/summer 2012 collection, we would like to introduce you to the Patchwork Denim Shirt.
The patchwork denim shirt is exactly that – a patchwork design. The main body of the garment is constructed from a dark raw tone denim base, with the shirt then featuring various different sized contrasting fabrics.
The arrangement used to help create the patchwork effect features checked, striped and paisley patterned fabrics – all of which come in different colour ways.
The patchwork effect is not only evident on the front chest area but also features on the arm panels, sleeves and collar as well as the upper back.
In addition, the designer has incorporated another small feature that we think shows great attention to detail – multiple button styles. Three of the front fastening buttons differ from the rest, again emphasising the ‘modified’ and handmade aesthetic they were aiming for.
Although here in the FashionBeans office we are not completely sold on the design – we do agree that it is definitely a statement piece that is truly different to the wide range of denim shirts on the market at the moment. Through the varied choice of materials and patterns used, it produces a unique and almost personalised effect that will definitely have you standing out from the crowd.
So what do you think? Is this a YES or NO for you? Let us know in the comments below…
