Kenzo’s Comeback
With the owners of the New York boutique Opening Ceremony – Carol Lim and Humberto Leo – at the helm of Kenzo, the brand’s fashion credentials are being reinstalled to their former glory.
There’s no denying the great work the two creative directors have done for the brand in such a short amount of time. Kenzo’s spring 2012 collection is a testament to the brand’s heritage and dedication to pushing high fashion to its limits.
Vibrant playful prints and colour (which the brand is renowned for) were particularly prominent in the spring 2012 collection, which were complimented with subtle tones of grey and white – creating a wearable and extremely covetable collection of pieces.
This season also sees a collaboration between Kenzo and footwear giant Vans. It comes as no surprise that Kenzo will be pairing up with a street brand, and their choice of partner was perfectly executed. Through their spring 2012 and more so their fall 2012 collection, it is evident that the two designers are going for a much cooler and relaxed street wear aesthetic.
Something tells me that we will be seeing a lot more from Kenzo and its new creative directors, as they steer high fashion towards another new and exciting direction.
