Although the dog days of summer seem to have been sent off to live on a farm at this point, you can never be too prepared when it comes to protecting your eyes from the harsh rays of the sun, unseen or otherwise.
Here to help you accomplish this important task, and look good doing it, is Belgian fashion designer Kris Van Assche, who has teamed up with British luxury optical brand Linda Farrow, to create two new sets of sunglasses for autumn/winter 2012.
Van Assche, former assistant to Saint Laurent Paris head Hedi Slimane (or Yves Saint Laurent head, Hedi Slimane, for traditionalists), is perhaps best known for his role as artistic director of Dior Homme, a post he has held since April 2007. Linda Farrow, a company that languished in storage until a revival was launched in 2003 following the titular designer’s death, is largely notable for its creation of pieces that have become favourites of popstar/eyewear-afficianado Lady Gaga.
The new collaborative pieces are constructed from semi-transparent acetate frames and lightweight, scratch-resistant CR-39 plastic lenses, which boast a high level of UVA, UVB and UVC protection, and are etched with Kris Van Assche’s name in the top left corner. The temples feature an elegant, chrome-finished tip complete with signature engraving.
With their round, retro eye-shape, these sunglasses are definitely on-trend and sure to add a touch of timeless sophistication to any outfit you choose to pair them with throughout the last dregs of English summer and into the overcast, glare-heavy days of autumn and winter.
Manufactured in Japan, both variations of the Kris Van Assche x Linda Farrow sunglasses are now available at Por Vocacao.
