With the spring fast approaching, British quilting manufacturer Lavenham has produced a lookbook to accompany their spring/summer 2012 range – a collection that seems ideal when making the transition to the warmer weather. Lavenham has always put an individual spin on the styling of quilted outerwear and, with this new collection, they really bring this trait to the forefront.
Quilting has traditionally been a texture associated with the colder months yet Lavenham have managed to create a range of pieces that retain their classic styling whilst fitting in with the desired spring/summer aesthetic.
The collection features both typical quilted jackets as well as a seasonal line that comes in a slimmer fit and a brighter colour palette of nautical navy and bold pastel shades.
Continuing the seasonal appeal, there are some new items that have been specifically developed for the warmer months: Lightweight worker jackets, heavy shirts and hoodies create a casual aesthetic and would be excellent for layering, whilst the bright windcheaters will be welcome once the heat gets too much for the inherent warmth of quilting.
For those of you who don’t like to neglect the finishing touches, accessories are also catered for. Laptop, iPad and glasses cases are novel items, while the selection of quilted ties presents an interesting alternative for a smart-casual outfit.
Overall, the SS12 line retains a British heritage feel but bright colours, patterns and tailoring really make it stand out. Lavenham’s mix of classic, wearable pieces juxtaposed with some slightly unusual statement items means there is something for all personal styles and tastes.
