London-based clothing and accessories brand Lazy Oaf have just released their new autumn/winter 2012 menswear lookbook. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand, Lazy Oaf specialise in graphic and illustrative pop-art clothing with retro 80s influences – graphic tees and shirts with bright vivid designs are the signature menswear pieces. All Lazy Oaf products are designed in-house and all collections are available to buy online or at the brand’s Soho store.
The lookbook for the autumn/winter 2012 collection showcases the brand’s tried and tested aesthetic and is shot using vintage equipment to enhance the retro vibe that the clothing highlights. Tees are simply designed with novelty graphics and slogans, but details such as baseball sleeves and some all-over prints give a nice distinction from other t-shirt brands.
Sweatshirts feature heavily in this collection and are arguably more interesting than the graphic tees, with detailing such as contrasting shoulder panels and hidden graphics providing a welcome point of difference from other brands on the high street. For example, the ‘rib zip sweatshirt’ features a large zip in the middle of the sweat, which reveals a hidden rib cage graphic on an inner layer when unzipped.
Graphic bobble hats are also prevalent and some versatile outerwear helps to counteract the vividness of some of the pieces in this collection. Wear a loud graphic tee and bobble hat with a simple khaki mac to avoid standing out from the crowd a little too much but still allowing for playful outfit building.
The autumn/winter 2012 collection will be available soon in-store and online at LazyOaf.co.uk.
