Launching today – a blessing for city cyclists that are allergic to lycra – Levi’s is bringing its Commuter range to the UK. Already a hit in the US, the Commuter range is designed to provide the perfect balance between fashion and functionality for the urban cyclist.
The collection is based around the iconic silhouettes of the 511 skinny jeans and the denim trucker jacket, but a range of trousers in brighter colours for the summer as well as a hooded variant of the jacket are also available. All of the products have been reworked with cycling specifically in mind – coming in specialised cuts and constructed using durable materials.
The jeans and trousers maintain the effortlessly cool skinny cut but the seat and back pockets are double layered for comfort. The waistline is raised at the back to ensure you are adequately covered when riding, whilst it also has built in storage for a U-lock. Finally, the cuffs are lined with 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective tape to keep the wearer visible and safe.
The trucker jackets are similarly altered for cycling ease. The tail and sleeves are extended for increased coverage, whilst the shoulder gussets allow for increased mobility. Utility pockets are added for practicality and to give the piece a slightly more rugged aesthetic. Scotchlite™ tape lines the interior of the side adjusters, which can be reversed for nighttime cycling.
All of the products come in stretch denim and twills that allow for greater mobility and have been treated with NanoSphere® technology that repels water and dirt as well as Sanitized® odor protection to keep you fresh from bike to business to bar.
The collection also includes a chambray shirt with a similar treatment to make it stain and water repellent as well as underarm ventilation to keep you cool on the most strenuous of journeys.
The Commuter series embodies Levi’s renowned effortless cool, whilst providing a range of cycle clothing that is as stylish as it is practical. The commuter 511 trouser is currently available and the jeans are coming soon. The shirt and jackets are due to follow in May.
