Makoto Taguchi Whole Cut Shoe Boot
Ever had the dilemma of deciding whether to purchase a particular footwear style in a boot or shoe incarnation? Avant-garde shoe designer Makoto Taguchi has attempted to address this issue with his unique and somewhat eccentric whole cut shoe-boot.
Hand-sewn from the finest leather hide, this classic double-soled Derby shoe converts into a boot by attaching the leather ankle section using the lace-attachment feature. Essentially two footwear options in one, this novel design has been manufactured using the respected Norwegian welt technique, ensuring that this hybrid footwear style is sturdy enough to take on any uncertain terrain. With the boot attachment having an easy-access zip detail, they’re as practical as they are versatile.
Graduating from the prestigious London College of Fashion in 2010 with a B.A. honours in Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development, Taguchi has worked with leading figures in the cobbling profession, acquiring traditional production techniques from masters of the trade. With the backing of a strong technical knowledge and adept craft-skills, this visionary footwear virtuoso combines the established elements of quality shoe manufacturing with an utterly unique design vision, producing inimitable creations that are the best kind of twist on traditional footwear.
An innovative concept, perhaps destined to have an impact on modern shoe design, these one-of-a-kind creations are sure to keep your style in-step, whatever footwear the occasion calls for.
