Today I thought, instead of talking about one of my favourite clothing brands or pieces of clothing, I might talk about a person I recently encountered. A person who captures celluloid style, yet also dresses accordingly for their age.
Martyn Roberts is the director of Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Anyone who has ever tried to create a career in the British fashion industry will know of him and will have without doubt have interned here at some point.
At a recent talk, I noticed him not as the man with the jobs for a change, but as the man with style. As soon as he walked into the room, the first thing I thought was that he optimises the definition of the FashionBeans man. So much so, I couldn’t help but whip out my camera and ask him for a quick picture in the courtyard outside.
His outfit was comprised of a classic McQueen blazer and jeans. His shirt, waistcoat, shoes and pocket square, all from Cos.
The one thing that wrapped the outfit up for me was his effortless ‘swagger’ for want of a better word. Casually strolling outside to a student-infested area – and without any direction from me – just pulling off the most lax poses shows how confident this man is.
