Around this time last year, it seemed the men of the UK went ‘Mo’ crazy! Traditionally, the moustache has been the mark of the alternative hipster – worn as an ‘ironic’ sentiment – but suddenly they popped up everywhere; suits in the city sported the mo, the coffee barrister served us our mid-morning pick me up with a smile and a mo, and so ‘mobsessed’ we became that potential Olympic heros named themselves after the humble mo. OK, so the last one was a slight exaggeration but last November it was hard to go a day without running into several well groomed moustaches (and some wispy pretenders).
Of course, those in the know realised this wasn’t the rise of real grooming trend, the men in question were supporting Movember – a charity set up to raise awareness of male cancers, such as prostate and testicular. After the success of last year, this year’s Movember looks set to be the biggest yet.
The Movember Charity has once again teamed up with all sorts of fashion brands to create unique products to support the cause. So if you don’t have the balls to grow a full on mo (or don’t have the follicles for one), you can still do your bit – minus the moustache.
Jewellery experts Links of London are one such brand to have created a special Movember collection, with a nifty sterling silver mo taking pride of place on its classic friendship bracelet and a kitch pair of mo cufflinks available for the city boys. Not only are you supporting a great cause, you’re also tapping in to the moustache trend (you won’t need FashionBeans to tell you that the moustache emblem is everywhere right now).
So as one famous moustache wearer once stated: ‘Your country needs you’ – well, in this case, your country needs your upper lip and a trip to Links of London.
Retailing at £125 for the Movember Moustache Cufflinks and £65 for the Movember Moustache Bracelet, 10% of all sales go to Movember.
