Nike x Undercover Collection
The latest collaboration between Undercover designer Jun Takahashi and Nike has been hotly anticipated, and it has already seen great commercial success during it’s first few days of release.
The premium sportswear market is becoming increasingly saturated and it seems shoppers are being increasingly tempted into purchasing directional, limited edition pieces rather than the usual thoroughfare available. Aimed at runners almost exclusively, this collaboration has more of a technical and practical appeal than, say, a sportswear-inspired fashion line. Entitled ‘Autumn Monks’, Takahashi has drawn similarities to the dedication and sacrifice that both monks and athletes make to their cause. Powerful stuff.
In terms of the collection itself, the pieces are incredibly high-performance, with only the most lightweight yet durable fabrics and materials used. Expect lightweight running jackets and tights along with tees, shorts and (of course) trainers. This is obviously a fashion collaboration too, so considerations are made – sets come in matching colourways and prints, one of the most striking of which is the leaf-print and the now widely sold out camo print.
In terms of footwear, trainers come in the free-run and lunarspeed styles but with updated colour palettes and detailing that perfectly compliment the apparel.
For a more fashionable approach to your daily/weekly/monthly run then head over the Mr Porter or oki-ni for the full collection. Be aware though that stocks are running low on both sites, so don’t delay!
