“James Bond Will Return.” So goes the famous coda which has marked the end of almost every entry to the iconic twenty-three-film-long feature series, and here to help you time that homecoming to the closest second is the James Bond 007 50th Anniverary Timepiece from Omega.
The Swiss watchmaker, which have been Commander Bond’s signature timepiece brand since 1995, have produced two new versions of the classic Seamaster Diver 300m in order to commemorate the fifty years that have passed since Sir Sean Connery first shone through the screen in his storied portrayal of England’s greatest ally.
The stylish chronometer has a case made of stainless steel, with a ceramic bezel ring and matte chromium nitride diving scales. The 50 marking is highlighted in a rich and regal red in honour of the franchise’s achievement, while the black dial is branded with the 007 logo. The caseback features a swirling design, reminiscent of the legendary gun barrel sequence which opens the majority of the films, punctuated by the name of the man himself engraved in the center. The indexes are coated with a blue-emitting chemical, allowing for visibility in all manner of light and environmental conditions.
The watch is available in 41mm and 36.25mm versions, both of which are fitted with the revolutionary Co-axial escapement mechanism, providing optimal timekeeping performance. The 41mm version is being manufactured as a limited 11,007 piece run and the 36.25mm is being released as only a 3,007 piece run.
While designed originally for divers, the additional branded touches given to this watch should appeal to film fans, fashion fanatics and aspiring super-spies the world over. The Seamaster Diver 300m 007 50th Anniversary Timepiece retails at approximately £2,800 and is available at select online retailers now.
