Opening Ceremony Covent Garden Store
Following on from the success of their pop-up store in London’s Covent Garden during the Olympics, the time has finally come for Opening Ceremony to unlock the doors of their permanent retail space on Kings Street – just a few doors away from their previous temporary residence.
The new 7,500 sq foot dwelling has been carefully designed to house the store’s own ready-to-wear range and accessories as well as a comprehensive list of contemporary brands, such as Acne (a brand which we listed in our 5 Menswear Designers You Should Know list last week), Band of Outsiders, Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, Comme des Garcons, JW Anderson and many, many more.
One factor that we are certainly intrigued by is that, alongside the designers and brands, the store features a special country focus on South Korea – with many exclusives being developed for Opening Ceremony by an array of emerging Far East design talent. This not only showcases the brands multinational approach to retail but also their determination to give back by providing emerging designers a chance to have their work showcased worldwide.
The stores design is what you would expect from the brand; with bright fluorescent lighting and dynamic use of shape having been incorporated into the layout. This use of shape and colour blocking helps zone specific areas whilst also creating unique furniture and shelving units.
If you happen to be in the Covent Garden Area, or London in general, this is definitely one store that is worth a visit.
