Ovadia & Sons SS12 Collection
Setting out with the simple objective of designing a concise range of men’s shirts and tailoring that they planned to wear themselves, Brooklyn born and bred Shimon and Ariel Ovadia set up their namesake label in 2010.
Growing up with a unique insight into their father’s long-established children’s wear business, the Ovadia boys were immersed in the clothing industry from a tender age, embarking on their design career with no formal fashion training, but first-hand life experience of the trade.
Focused on reworking British and American closet classics, the New York based twin brothers design with the intention of creating garments that are “familiar, but fresh” – offering tailoring, refined sportswear separates and nattily elegant accessories.
Achieving great acclaim for their debut collection of well-cut suiting and casual attire, their second collection was bought by New York’s illustrious Bloomingdales and Barneys department stores.
This year’s SS12 collection is a superb showcase of their discerning pursuit to make their label the definitive destination for the man who demands classic longevity and considered sophistication from his clothing. Some of the standout looks were a belted motorcycle jacket, given a fresh personality by its bold sunshine-yellow hue; modern safari tailoring and separates in classic savannah-chic tones; sharply-cut tailoring featuring traditional fabrics and heritage checks; and their quality shirting, which sports old-school penny and cutaway collar styles.
The line’s polished accessory selection of monk-strap loafers, fringed leather lace-ups and kooky collegiate bow ties are the essence of debonair refinement.
From a striped Breton knit and waxed cotton cover up to a proficiently-cut linen-blend suit and 30s-inspired black-tie tailoring, the SS12 line has every garment choice to see you from day to night, with the collection displaying a coherent understanding of a man’s sartorial needs across both work and play occasions.
With the timeless and novel aesthetic to their garments, Ovadia & Son’s designs are smart and insightful creations that every man will find space for in his wardrobe, no matter what his sartorial predilection.

Good day, I’m a 21 year old guy, and I like to dress formal in my free time, allthough I’m not work in an office (I serve in the army).
I want to know is there a proper rules of wearing pre tied bow ties, and may I wear them or not.
Thank you.
Hi Alexey,
Thanks for your question. There are not any definitive rules regarding pre-tied bowties, they are on the whole considered sub-substandard to self-tie versions.
I would strongly recommend that you choose a self-tie style and take a moment to learn how to tie one – old school bow ties have enjoyed a marked revival in recent years, so you will not find them in short supply, and it only takes a few minutes to learn how to tie one properly. There are numerous guides and videos on the internet that can assist you with this and I have included a few links below.
The beauty of self-tie bowties is that they form a more natty, organic shape than the overly perfect looking pre-tied versions, and will score you extra points in the dandy department as a result.
Hope this helps ;-)
