It has been 60 years since Ray-Ban introduced the iconic wayfarer to the market – and to celebrate its 60th anniversary, Ray-Ban have reproduced the iconic glasses, in the form of a limited edition.
The iconic wayfarer silhouette is considered to be an essential accessory in the modern man’s wardrobe due to its classic style. The simplicity of the design has ensured these frames are instantly recognisable and a timeless piece that can be worn for years – they have the potential to be passed as down as a stylish family heirloom.
The wayfarer style has been adapted and reworked from its original design over the years. Being one of the four popular styles in the Ray-Ban catalogue, the company have released versions featuring clear lenses, folding frames, tortoiseshell frames, printed frames and even rounded frames. The way that the wayfarer family has expanded just goes to prove that it is a design that just doesn’t age and can be interpreted with modern trends in mind – all the while keeping its signature characteristics.
The new wayfarer ultra limited edition is constructed from an acetate frame, which has its serial number printed on the inside temples. They feature 18 carat white gold plates on the temples, engraved with the Ray-Ban logo and the birth year of the wayfarer (1952).
The special lenses utilised on this style have an extremely high polarization and enhance colours naturally, so your environment seems even more vivid. These special lenses have anti-reflective and hydro-oleophobic qualities, which guarantees strong protection and resistance from the sun’s UV rays – the most important aspect of any real pair of sunglasses.
Lenses are available in two shades – green or 24k mirrored gold – and the Ray-Ban Ultra Limited Edition Wayfarers will be available at selected retailers only.
