Selfridges’ Urban Survival Backpacks
With the London Collections: Men still fresh on our minds, the Olympics coming up and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations still bringing a smile to one’s face, it is clear to see why all eyes are still very much focused on Albion shores.
Over the next few weeks, millions upon millions of visitors will be arriving in our fair land as the Olympics get underway. It is sure to be a rather hectic summer.
So there is no better way to be prepared than with your own ultimate ‘Urban Survival’ backpack, courtesy of our friends at Selfridges. As part of their Big British Bag project, Selfridges is offering a seriously cool edit of exclusive designer backpacks from the world’s leading designers – like Mulberry, Eastpak, Phillip Lim, Nike, Paul Smith and Oliver Spencer – each filled with it’s on unique array of contents.
Each option is exclusive to Selfridges and Selfridges.com – Here I‘ll be going through my favourites.
Eastpak’s Pantone 109 Backpack
First up is Eastpak’s Pantone 109 backpack in Selfridges’ signature hue, this backpack is jam-packed with all the essentials you could possibly need as you trek the urban jungle this summer – including I might add, an awesome pair of free Pantone 109 Ray-Bans for the first twenty online customers!
Other contents include (to name a few): pencils, an A-Z, card wallet, Wallpaper city guide, whistle, note pad, Selfridges-printed umbrella, water bottle and Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Priced at £109, it’s a pretty reasonable investment for a lot of great items, especially if you’re lucky enough to nab the sunnies.
Oliver Spencer x Seil Marschall Backpack
Up next on my list is Oliver Spencer’s offering, co-created with Seil Marschall. This smart, clean-cut canvas backpack features chic leather trims and logo embroidery. Contents include the necessary A-Z maps, a disposable camera, water, notepad and playing cards. But the real winners are the Oliver Spencer rain mac and cotton t-shirt.
Phillip Lim’s Survival Kit
Now, you’ll notice very quickly with this next one that it is in fact a women’s bag. But I had to show off Phillip Lim’s Survival kit – namely the bag itself which, when emptied, can be turned into a jacket. YES, you read right, a jacket. Now that is versatile fashion.
Nike Cavendish Backpack
Last but not least of my selections is Nike’s offering, the Cavendish backpack. Part of the Nike launch within the store (see my article on Nike’s House of Innovation launch at Selfridges here), this Urban Survival kit takes street-cool to the max.
Called Cavendish after Nike’s collaboration with sportsman Mark Cavendish, the offering is built around Nike’s super sleek Cheyenne 2000 backpack; a coated-cotton body with smooth leather trims giving off an almost scuba-esque feel.
This generous sized backpack have extra padding in the back and on the shoulder straps, perfect for carrying heavy loads to the gym of work – or for carrying the incredible selections of gifts inside. These include a pair of Cavendish Nike Blazer mid tops, rendered in luxury suede and a pair of Cavendish addition Beats Studio headphones. These headphones are must-have accessory for music lovers on the go.
All of Selfridges Urban Survival backpacks are on sale now, in store and online.
