The Devil Wears Givenchy
Simon Baker, best known to international audiences for his starring role in The Devil Wears Prada, was recently named by Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) as the new face of Givenchy. Baker will front the campaign for a new men’s cologne, which is yet to be named. The campaign launch is set for spring 2013.
The Devil Wears Prada remains one of the most iconic fashion films of the past decade, with rumours currently circulating that author of the original novel Lauren Weisberger is penning a sequel. Baker played smooth operator Christian Thompson in the 2007 adaptation, known in the film for his easy way with ladies and his sharp fashion sense, especially when it came to scarves.
The story’s main protagonist, the terrifying Miranda Priestly, is reportedly based on American Vogue’s editor-in-chief, the iconic Anna Wintour, who is frequently referred to in the industry as “the most powerful woman in fashion.”
