The Goodhood Store Review
‘A selection of goods rooted in design quality and creativity’ is clearly printed in The Goodhood Store. The black block capitals summarise the aspirations of the team, using the contrast of the white backdrop to add emphasis and focus. In support of their bold statement they pride themselves in sourcing exquisite brands from around the world, finding like minded labels that focus on quality, exclusivity and independence.
Since opening in 2007, the store has continued to develop and gain success. An ongoing collaboration with R.Newbold plays a significant role in The Goodhood Stores accomplishments. The capsule collection continually defines the stores emphasis on effortless style. Less than a year ago, The Goodhood Workshop was born, a studio space offering a place for innovative exhibitions and exclusive brand launches, such as the Carhartt Heritage line.
‘Unloveable’ is the chosen name for the lookbook for spring/summer 2012. The title shines through in the casual and quirky poses that the models adopt for the shoot. Sipping on a Coca Cola, tucking into a burger or sitting abruptly sideways to the camera suggests a nonchalant and slightly arrogant attitude – not typically deemed attractive and ‘loveable’ attributes in society. Mixing a Soulland rose printed shirt, a casual Norse Project shirt jacket and vintage Dr Martens shows the variety of brands that the Goodhood Store has carefully edited.
‘You can dream design and build the most wonderful place in the world but it requires people to make it a reality’ is another statement plastered on the wall, a brass and bold attempt to reach out to their clientele. By offering a place of independent spirit and unique energy there is no reason (that I can think of) to not visit the store and keep their vision alive.
For those who seek the quieter life outside of the capital their webstore is a similar experience. You get the opportunity to be seated at their top table witnessing great style advice or be at the front of the picket line fighting for the reduced items.
