With the Olympics just around the corner, and the Queen’s diamond Jubilee this week, London is set to be on everyone’s radar in the coming months. Unsurprisingly, there are many brands that have got on board with this idea and released themed product or campaigns etc. Topman’s latest trend ‘London Calling’ is a celebration of everything British – and their red white and blue styling is the perfect way to embrace this for the summer months.
While a lot of brands may have taken a very literal and cheesy angle on their product choices, Topman have instead provided on-trend pieces in a classic British colour palette. Denim shirts, Breton tees and ikat prints allow for patriotic dressing without looking like you’ve raided the fancy dress shop. There are of course the occasional Union Jack prints thrown in for good measure, in this season’s must-have accessory, the backpack, and graphic tees, as well as more novelty items such as socks and sunglasses.
Styling wise, Topman have provided scope to dress to your personal style. For a casual summer look, team a blue denim shirt with some white tailored shorts, white converse and a Union Jack backpack. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, layer with a pillar-box red parka jacket. To get the 60s mod vibe, pair a skinny-fit suit in black or grey with a white polo, Derby shoes and accessorise with braces. Finally, to channel colonial dressing, team a jungle print shirt with some chinos and brown sandals.
