Umbro New Blue Anthem Jacket
With spring getting closer by the day, now would seem the most appropriate time to purchase a lightweight, versatile jacket for everyday use. Last month, Umbro released its ‘Speciali 92’ range, including the ‘New Blue’ collection that celebrates 20 years of Speciali football boots. One particular item that stood out here at FashionBeans was the Anthem Jacket, with its washed-out blue finish. Since the 1960s, it has become one of the most iconic football garments the game has seen.
The instantly recognisable diamond logo projects heritage and tradition. The jacket combines a soft cotton lining with three colour stripes projected onto a flat ribbed trim on collar, cuffs and hem – making this piece perfect for the forthcoming months.
Think eighties revival; picture Danny Dyer in The Business leaning against his Porsche 928 or Paul Anderson in The Firm leading the lines in a post-match scuffle. This jacket holds history and has that retro, clean cut feel that is becoming ever so popular in men’s fashion today. The jacket, along with the whole New Blue range, is likely to encourage an entire new generation of youngsters and sport fans into stores to invest in one of these gems.
When combined with dark slim jeans, a fitted polo shirt (check Fred Perry’s Penny Collar) and a pair of Paul Smith Plum White Karma trainers, the nylon jacket is no longer a small time, Sunday League pre-match overcoat – but a fashion icon for street culture.

It looks good, but can the guys at Fashionbeans write an article discussing Spring outerwear? That would be great considering we are reaching some uncertain weather at the moment, would be helpful!
