Due to the incredible success of their spring/summer collection, Japanese street wear giants UNDERCOVER are back on the high street for a final collaborative project with Uniqlo.
The UU Autumn/Winter collection is set to include everything from coats to trousers to footwear and is once again designed by Jun Takahashi. The campaign images are a little odd, but apparently aim to compliment Takahashi’s inspirational concepts, including nature and music.
Very neutral shades have been used across the board, with deep burgundy and purple adding some warmth. Uniqlo will also be using their Heat Tech and Ultra Light Down materials in the garments, so there should be no qualms regarding practicality or durability.
One of the stand-out pieces is definitely the military-style parka. For so long have I waited for a brand to release one that ticks all the boxes; the elusive ‘perfect parka’. This example comes extremely close. Available in navy and the traditional olive green, the mid-thigh length coat will no doubt keep you warm and provide that rugged-cool look for hectic weekends. The fur hood and fish tail is a must have and the detail added to the pockets, cuffs and along the zip compliment the wardrobe staple.
Personally, I am a massive fan of collaborative efforts between designers and companies. Giving everyone on the high street the opportunity (financially as well as geographically) to get hold of well designed, on trend items that are of good quality but reasonably priced can surely only be a good thing?
Available from mid August. Let us know what you thought of the last collection and any initial feelings towards this new one.
Looking good isn’t important, it’s everything.
