47 Brand AW13 Collection
Named after the year of its inception, iconic sports and lifestyle company 47 Brand has announced the release of their new autumn/winter 2013 collection.
Originally named Twins Enterprises, 47 Brand was founded by twin brothers, Italian immigrants and pioneering merchandisers Arthur and Henry D’Angelo, as a way to seize upon a previously untapped public want for sports souvenirs and make a bit of money out of a cart on the streets outside Boston baseball field, Fenway Park.
The company has since gone on to become one of the most revered names in sports apparel and a licensed partner of the four major American sports leagues: Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL), in addition to over 650 US colleges.
This season, the ‘College Collection’ continues the company’s commitment to quality as 47 Brand applies its celebrated clean aesthetic and keen attention to detail to a new series of snapbacks, premium hats, shirts, tees, jackets and sweatshirts. The focus, as ever, is on comfort, craftsmanship and durability, which the label deliver in spades with a preppy assortment of styles inspired by traditional American collegiate wear with a distinct wintertime twist.
Highlight pieces in the collection include a 1930s-style letterman jacket, or ‘varsity jacket’ for UK readers, featuring cut and sew panels; a series of beanies embroidered with the names of sports teams and universities; along with graphic, logo and typography driven cotton shirting and Melton wool caps.
