A.P.C x KANYE Capsule Collection
French ready-to-wear label A.P.C have teamed up with rap artist Kanye West to produce an eight-piece capsule collection.
The seed of this collaboration was planted a while back, A.P.C label founder Jean Touitou tells…
Over two years ago, a visitor to the A.P.C. studio was announced to me as “Kenny”. He wanted my advice on the fashion industry; although I found such a request quite vague, as a mutual friend introduced us, I met with the guy. The guy talks, talks and talks and I was having a good time listening. He had nice manners and spoke about losing his mother in a surgery accident, about losing his girlfriend too, and about how difficult doing the right thing in fashion was. After a while, I was curious to know what this gentleman was currently doing in his life. I simply asked him: “May I know what your trade is, sir?”
Soon Touitou got clued up on whom ‘Kenny’ was, a friendship blossomed, and now we have the current collection.
The minimalist range includes two long sleeve hoodies, a short-sleeved hoody, two pairs of Japanese selvedge denim jeans and three t-shirts. The pieces are restrained and wearable, which you may not have expected from the often extravagant Mr West, with the tops having a sports/street appeal to them.
The collection highlight and the piece with clearly the most visible West influence is the short sleeve grey marl hoody. The piece offers a loose fit and is made from fleece, whilst key detailing includes a shorter front length and thick hood adjusts with braided string.
The two long sleeve hoodies have same design features as the shorter version and come in two navy tone colour ways. The tees are available in plain or dark navy options, with ribbed neckline detail, with a third ‘Trippy Symphony’ design featuring a skeletal monochrome print on a white base.
Rounding out the collection are two pairs of Japanese selvedge denim skinny jeans: one in dark indigo and the second in a light stonewash.
The pieces are strictly limited edition and should be considered high-end wardrobe staples, with a price point to match, so if you’re a fan of Mr West or A.P.C then you need to grab a piece whilst you still can.
