Antoine+Stanley Footwear AW13
European design via way of Oz is what’s on offer with Antoine+Stanley’s AW13 footwear collection. The brand was founded by Australian designer Paul Waddy, who wanted to create a label that combined European craftsmanship and style with updated palettes and detailing.
The collection includes thirteen designs, each featuring the brand’s renowned bold colour ways, sole level stripes and intricate attention to detail. The shoes offer vibrant updates on classic smart silhouettes, so they are a great way to inject some variety and colour into an outfit in an elegant and masculine way.
The monk-strap has been one of the most popular silhouettes within men’s footwear over past seasons, and Antoine+Stanley have created their own interpretation of it with their ‘Knox’ model, which is available in two colour ways. The first is a classic and restrained brown leather option featuring monk buckle straps, a leather lining and a textured thread sole.
However, if you are a man who likes to stand out and fully embraces colour, there is also a suede version available in bold red. The shoe features white stitching detail on the body, a leather interior and a slim striped sole, again with red detailing.
The Desert boot, another menswear classic, is brought up to date via a two-tone patent leather design. Entitled the ‘Toby Short’, on first glance the boot appears to be solid black, but on closer inspection it fades into a rich burgundy at the front and rear. It comes complete with metal eyelets and a contrasting brown sole.
As Antoine+Stanley are renowned for their use of colour, special mention has to go to the ‘Rowan’ loafer. Oozing personality and character, the Rowan has an orange suede body and features white stitching, grey leather fringing and buckle detailing. The shoe has the feel of a hybrid thanks to the brogue punching on the toe, yet it retains the slip-on ease of a traditional loafer.
The collection is available at ASOS now, and priced from £110-135.
