Bassike SS14 Pre-Collection
The SS14 pre-collection from Bassike is a simplistic and accessible take on Australian style. Working alongside youthful, boy-next-door model Jacob Hankin and photographer Beau Grealy, design duo Deborah Sams and Mary-Lou Ryan showcase a plethora of adaptable and covetable everyday pieces.
Operating in a universal palette of black, white and grey, wearable designs with sports-driven features appear throughout the accompanying lookbook (below), helping to shape the effortlessly cool aesthetic.
Soft, breathable cottons are the fabric of choice with sweaters, tapered joggers and lengthened outerwear setting the foundations of the line. Detailing comes in the form of frayed edges, contrasting panels and piping, meaning the simplicity remains strong whilst also adding depth to the look.
Highlights within the collection include the grey marl sweater and the black hooded cardigan. However, the key piece on offer is the light grey hooded jacket, complete with contrast black trims and piping. With its strong linear design and stylish accents, this jacket is as much about form as it is function.
Having intelligently demonstrated the appeal of more relaxed, casual dressing, Bassike look set to continue this approach for many a season to come. The full collection will be available from spring next year.
